2025 Organic Dairy Days

Join the University of Vermont Extension for an interactive forage quality and ruminant nutrition workshop. Agronomist Heather Darby will be joined by research specialist Sara Ziegler, dairy nutritionist Kurt Cotanch, grazing consultant Sarah Flack, and Jen Miller of NOFA-VT.

--- SPECIAL NOTE for BEEF PRODUCERS ---
Kurt Cotanch will make the March 6th event relevant for forage-focused beef producers. He will integrate beef-appropriate content into the morning discussion and in the afternoon he will meet specifically with beef producers to discuss forage nutrition issues they are experiencing. Bring your questions!

Here are a few things Forage-focused Beef Producers will learn from Kurt during the morning session.
1. Understanding Rumen Function: Milk or Meat both aim to maximize rumen microbial protein yields
2. Interpreting Forage Analyses: Understanding nutrient fractions and digestibilities. How to capture them in homegrown forages.
3. Modeling Animal Productivity: Growth (ADG) with Forage Quality
